In-Line Quality Inspection for Plastic Molding

Plastic molding inspection is an in-line quality inspection application that checks injection moulded parts for shape deviations, missing features and dimensional errors as they exit the mould, comparing each part against a known-good reference.

The problem

Temperature and pressure changes during injection moulding can cause parts to come out with extra edges, missing corners or a shape that no longer matches specification. Human inspectors get tired over long shifts and miss small deviations, especially at high cycle rates.

How it works

A camera is placed where parts drop out of the mould. TARKO's software checks each part's shape and key dimensions against a reference part, using a detection method that is proprietary and not published.

The system is built to run inference locally, without depending on a cloud connection to make a pass or fail decision.

How fast does each part get checked?

The system is built to check each part as it exits the mould, at the cycle speed of the moulding machine, without adding a separate inspection step that slows the process down.

Does this replace the mould technician?

No. It catches defects at the part level, in real time. A technician still owns process parameters and mould maintenance; the system gives them faster, more consistent defect data to act on.

Can it handle multiple part variants on the same line?

Yes, provided each variant has its own reference and the system has been shown sample parts for it. This is scoped during the feasibility audit.
